Chains

How chains are named, and why to read the roster instead of hardcoding it.

A chain is named by a slug (robinhood) or its numeric id (4663). Both work anywhere a chain is named, and every chain-scoped object carries both.

Read the roster

curl 'https://api.preview.avee.tech/api/v1/chains'

The list holds the chains producing blocks right now, with latest_block and block_lag_seconds, how far behind the chain head the index is. A chain that goes quiet drops off the list rather than serving stale figures, so alert on block_lag_seconds if freshness matters to you.

The set is open: new chains appear without a new API version. Code that switches on a fixed list of chain names will ignore the next chain we add.

Addresses

  • EVM chains: 0x…, any case, with or without 0x. Responses return the 0x-prefixed lower-case form.
  • TON, Solana, Hyperliquid: used and returned exactly as given, because case and format carry meaning there.

Unknown chains

A typo is 404 chain_not_found, never an empty list: an empty list would read as "this chain has no pairs", which is a different and more expensive thing to believe.
